Our heritage tour is the best way to explore the cultural diversity, history, religion and customs of the south Indian state of Goa. This tour will show you the real essence of the place that has been called the “Rome of the East’' due to the influence of the Portuguese Catholics, that settled here. You will enjoy the rich culture and heritage of Goa. We have included all the prominent forts and churches that reflect the colonial legacy of India.

This is a complete list of all the monsoon tourist places you will visit on this amazing tour of Goa.

Fort Aguada

Fort Aguada is easily one of the most popular destinations of Goa. It is the perfect testimony for the glory of Portuguese legacy. It was constructed by Portuguese in 1612. The magnificent fort has been standing high with all its elegance for over four hundred years. The Aguada Lighthouse is also another feature that makes this spot popular among tourists. Catching the sunset and sunrise view from here is an unforgettable experience and a big part of our Tour and Travels in Goa.

Reis Magos Fort

The fort was constructed as an outpost for Adil Shah of Bijapur in 1493. When the Portuguese conquered Bardez, they renovated the fort and built the fort along with the church. It was also laterly used as a jail. By 1993, it was abandoned as it was starting to deteriorate, the restoration process started in 2008. This Portuguese styled fort facing the capital city of Panjim is surrounded by sturdy laterite walls that are studded with the typically Portuguese turret. It was formally the accommodation of resident viceroys, other dignitaries and visitors from Europe.

Basilica of Bom Jesus, Old Goa

The Basilica of Bom Jesus (or 'Basílica do Bom Jesus' in Portuguese)  is a UNESCO World Heritage Site. The basilica holds the mortal remains of St. Francis Xavier in a glass coffin. St Francis is teh patron saint of Goa. The church is located in Old Goa, which was the capital of Goa in the early days of Portuguese rule. ‘Bom Jesus’ means literally, ‘Good or Holy Jesus’

Se Cathedral, Old Goa

The architecture of the Se Cathedral is Portuguese, Manueline style. The exterior is Tuscan, whereas the interior is Corinthian. The church is 250 feet (76 m) in length and 181 feet (55 m) in breadth. The frontispiece stands 115 feet (35 m) high. The Se Cathedral’s tower houses a large bell known as the “Golden Bell” on account of its rich tone. It is said to be the largest in Goa, as well as one of the best in the world.

Ruins of the Church of St.Augustine, Old Goa

The church was constructed in 1602 by Augustinian friars who had arrived in Old Goa in 1587. It was abandoned in 1835 due to the expulsion of religious orders from Goa and the Portuguese government ordered its demolition. All that is left of the  Church of St Augustine today is the 46m-high tower, which served as a belfry and formed part of the church’s facade.

Mount Mary Church, Old Goa

Located barely 3 km from the Capital, this beach welcomes you with swaying Pine trees and is also the resting place of the first Chief Minister of Goa, who so loved this place

Our Lady of the Immaculate Conception Church, Panjim

High above the Idalco Palace built by Adil Shah is the glorious Panjim Church. It has been rewarding all the tourist that go there with a spectacular view of Panjim City. Located in the heart of Panjim City, it the first church of Goa and a favourite among the travellers who come to Panjim. The quare of flowers in front of the church was built in 1855 and is a beautiful feature of this splendid Portuguese church. The hilltop above the church is called 'Bairro Altos de Pilotos'. It gets its name from the large beacons that used to be lit here, to guide ships into the estuary before the lighthouse was built.

Chapora Fort

Chapora Fort has been popular with visitors to  Goa for a long time as it is one of the most beautiful sunsets and evening spots to chill in the whole of Goa. This awe-inspiring fort has a surreal beauty and was featured in the famous Bollywood movie 'Dil Chahta Hai'. This has made it very famous. The sunset sky is simply incredible from this fort and we assure you that this spectacular sight will remain etched in your heart for eternity. If you want to have a tour of the ‘best of goa’ with a group of people, then the best way is to book a private vehicle and have a special tour guide. It may seem expensive but per person cost will be less and the experience is way worthwhile compared to struggling on your own. My group of friends and I booked with atlantis water sports goa after comparing the reviews and prices of all available options. So, I can assure you that we have done our market research well. So I really recommend you to not waste your time searching and just go with Atlantis watersports. They have everything you need and the service is top notch. I mean isn’t it expected considering they are a company that started in the 90’s? So they definitely have experience in the industry. That is why we trusted them and went ahead. And we did the right thing. They lived up to their experience. Truly great and professional services, the best option out there. They cover all the important sights and give you great recommendations on other things like cafes and shopping choices and such. Hope this review helps and you have a great time in Goa as well. - Navika Ahuja

We are a group of young ladies in our late fifties. Our kitty party girl gang decided to go to Goa and enjoy it full blast and prove everyone who thought Goa is for young ones only WRONG! I’m telling you, We had more fun than any group of youngsters here. The formula is simple. Book like 10 days in goa, spend time sightseeing, trying the watersports and in the last few days, just relax and unwind at a local cafe and be a Goan. For all of this, the girls and I can promise you, ‘Atlantis watersports in goa’ is just the perfect little ray of sunshine. They have it all under one roof. SO just go with them for doing anything in Goa as a tourist. We booked the heritage tour, the watersports activities and the boat cruise all with them only. The children working there are such darlings and everyone is ever so kind and sweet. Just leave it to them and have a blast. - Mary Rose D’souza

We are a family of five children. You can imagine the amount of stress my wife and I had trying to handle excited children on a trip. So we were searching for a private tour guide in goa. People recommended Atlantis watersports in calangute for this, saying that they have great reputation and experience. It is true, they did such a wonderful job that my wife and I could completely focus on our kids and enjoying the scenery. The food, the timings, the rules and routes, literally everything up to the finest details were taken care of. Plus, the vehicle was very comfortable and our guide did a great job as well. I couldn’t have asked for anything better to make our trip memorable. I also recommend their watersports packages, they were equally good. In all, Atlantis water sports really is a one stop destination to do all things in goa. - Neeraj Jain
