What is Wakeboarding
A Wakeboard is a board, similar to a surfboard or a kitesurf board, but it is shorter. It is wide enough for your two feet and has foot bindings that secure you to the board. You need these bindings to keep you attached to the board as there is a considerable force applied when you are travelling through the water at speed. You either start from the shore or are let go from the boat on a rope with a bar for your hands. You need to grip hard and brace yourself as you start to be pulled across the water by the speed boat. It is called wakeboarding as you are close to the boat and travel in its wake. In Water Skiing you travelling to the side of the boat and only occasionally cross the wake. With this exciting water sport, you are in the wake all the time. The wake is the water that is churned up as the speed boat travels through the water. It is this that makes it so exciting and popular. The combination of the speed of the boat and the wake make it possible to do many tricks. From simply jumps to complete somersaults in any number of combinations are the goal of the professionals.
