Surfing in Goa is very popular.
Surfing is both a hobby or a serious sport. Surfing has grown massively in popularity in India and a very cool scene has built up along the coast. This is a great healthy activity that promises many thrills and spills. Staying upright is the first thing to accomplish! Then you can move on to bigger waves and hopefully experience surfing through the tunnel of a wave. This is the ultimate thrill that surfers strive for. It is very hard to get good at, and only practice helps.
Surfing has a long history
It is thought that in 1969 the first surf boards were used. Hawaii is known as the home of surfing and it might be that people were actually surfing long before this. These boards were very basic people of wood, that then went on to evolve into the complex aerodynamic shapes of today. There is no lower or upper age limit when it comes to surfing. It can be mastered by anyone who has the heart, desire and aptitude for it.
What is a Surf Board?
A surf board is a platform made from a variety of materials, originally wood and now from foam, fibreglass and other modern materials. The board needs to be light, yet strong and durable enough to support an individual’s body weight, whether standing or lying flat. There are different boards for different sized people as well as different wave conditions and styles.
